Brief Introduction about Trek :
1) Chavand Fort ( Prasannagad)
Height:Abt 3399ft
Grade:Easy

Chavand is a hill fortress situated 30 km from the modern-day town of Naryangoan inJunnar Taluka of Pune district in Maharashtra, India. The fort, is located in the Sahyadri mountain range. The fort was looted and destroyed by the British upon siege. This is one of the forts known as the ‘Famous 5′. Chavaand, Hadsar, Shivneri, Jivdhan and Naneghat form the Famous 5 trek. The fort has remnants of construction that are more than 800 years old. Village of Chavandwadi lies at the base of the fort. Under the rule of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj this was known as Prasannagad.

Details:
Shivneri Fort is a 17th-century military fortification located near Junnar. It is the birthplace of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of Maratha Empire.
Shahaji, Chatrapati Shivaji’s father, was a general in the army of the Adil Shah, Sultan of Bijapur. He was concerned for the safety of his wife Jijabai during her pregnancy as there was constant warfare going on. He therefore moved his family to Shivneri fort. Shivneri is a highly defensible location, with steep rocks on four sides and a strongly built citadel.
Chhatrapati Shivaji was born at the fort on 19 February 1630, and spent his childhood there.he got his name SHIVBA here. Inside the fort is a small temple dedicated to the goddess Shivai Devi, after whom Shivaji was named.
The highest point of the fort is at a height of 3500 feet above the sea level. The Junnar taluka lies at the foot of this fort. One more thing about Junnar taluka is that it has the highest density of leopard population in the country.
