Dear All,  शिखर वेध has arranged a 3 – day Trip to Ganpatipule – Ratnagiri – Pawas – Purngad – Marleshwar region, on 30 September – 2 October, 2012
Brief Introduction about Places as below: -
.
Ganpatipule: Nestled in the greenery is a nearly 4000 year old landmark the Swayambhu Ganpati Temple (Swayambhu means a self-originated idol, Ganapati). It is flooded by thousands of devotees and tourists every year. Ganpatipule, the Lord of the ‘ganas’ or army and “pule” means sand dunes. It is one of the ‘Ashta Ganapatis’ (eight Ganpatis) of India and is known as ‘Paschim Dwar Dewata’ (Western Sentinel God).
.
Purnagad: Purnagad fort is situated on a mountain which is at the origin of Muchakundi creek. This fort is having a small area but the bastions are having a very strong construction. One can view the entire fort premises in a sight.
.
Pawas
: Pawas, a village with captivating natural beauty. This is a prime spiritual place in Ratnagiri district due to a very long stay of Swami (saint) Swaroopanand. Swami Swaroopanand was a follower of Warkari Sampraday ( Tradition).
.
Bhatye Suru Ban
: The entire coast of the Bhatye village is covered with ‘Suru’ trees and is locally known as Bhatye Suru Ban. The entire area is covered with trees and is very beautiful.

Bhatye beach: The Bhatye beach is a clean and beautiful beach. The beach is less crowded and secluded as it is a little away from the main city. At one end of the beach you can also visit the temple of ‘Zhari Vinayak‘.

Ratnagiri (THIBA ) Palace: One of the major attractions of Ratnagiri city situated on a small hillock. There is also a best sunset point from here. One can have a panoramic view of Someshwar creek, Bhatye bridge to pawas and Arabian sea. This palace was used for keeping the King Thibaw, last king of Burma (now Myanmar) under house arrest. Thibaw ruled the Burma for 6 years.

Ratnadurg: Besieged by the charming Arabian Sea on the three sides, the massive Ratnadurga Fort presents a splendid look. A massive structure in the shape of a horseshoe, with a length of 1,300 meters and a width of 1,000 meters, Ratnadurg Fort was once a strong hold of the Maratha Empire.
Spread over a vast area of 120 acres, Ratnadurg Fort was under the Muslim rule for so many years. Now a collapsed structure, lying across two hills, Ratnadurg Fort gives a decrepit look.Overlooking the Arabian Sea, Ratnadurg Fort offers the dazzling view of the sun going down the sea and the sweet sound of the pounding of the waves against the rocks makes a perfect symphony. Another specific attraction in the fort is the marvelous lighthouse situated in the bastions of the fort. Once in the fame of glory, Ratnadurg Fort on the coastal line of the Konkan region is a perfect place to getaway from the trappings of the city life.
.
Marleshwar Temple: Tourists should visit this important temple in Sangmeshwar for devotion and natural beauty. We can see Sahyadri’s huge precipice and river. We get a surprise when we reach Marleshwar in the pleasant atmosphere. At the right side we get the entrance of the cave and near the entrance of the cave, there is ‘Kund’ of cold water. When we enter the cave we can see Shri. Marleshwar. Friendly snakes and cobras are everywhere in the cave but noteworthy thing is not a single person has died because of snakes here. If we go ahead, ‘Dhareshwar’ waterfall can be seen. The waterfall sight is very beautiful from the cave but we don’t get an idea about the height of the waterfall from here. We will have to go beyond ‘Karambeli Doh’ for that. .
