<div><b>PARANDA Fort :: </b></div>
<div>No records are available to show when this fort was constructed, but believe that it was laid out during the late 15th century by <a title="Mahmud Gawan" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahmud_Gawan" target="_blank" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahmud_Gawan&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1558207127717000&amp;usg=AFQjCNEiBi61PITRfqnGfo1asGRxaB8lNg">Mahmud Gawan</a>, the <a title="Vizier" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vizier" target="_blank" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vizier&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1558207127717000&amp;usg=AFQjCNGhlBNxps1dHdeso_RxULE4Xr0cAA">Vazir</a> of Bahamani Sultanate.</div>
<div>
<p>In 1599, Mughals defeated Nizam Shahi of Ahmednagar. Though Emperor Akbar appointed his officers to look after the kingdom of the Deccan, the Nizam Shah’s officers refused to receive orders from them. They had lost their independence. They declared Murtaza, the son of Shah Ali king and made Paranda Fort, about 75 miles south east of Ahmednagar capital. The site passed several times between them and the Adil Shahis and remained with him for two to three years and was captured by the Adil Shah in 1630. In 1657 it was again captured by the Moghuls and eventually came into the hands of the Nizams of Hyderabad.</p>

<strong>The Gokak Waterfall </strong>is located on the Ghataprabha River in Belagavi district of Karnataka, India. The waterfall is six kilometers away from Gokak. After a long winding course, the Ghataprabha river takes a leap of 52 metres (171 ft) over the sand-stone cliff amidst a picturesque gorge of the rugged valley, resembling Niagara Falls on a smaller scale. The waterfall is horse shoe shaped at the crest, with a flood breadth of 177 metres (581 ft). During rainy season, the thick reddish brown water sweeps far over the brink of the cliff with a dull roar that can be heard from some distance. There is a hanging bridge across the river, measuring about 201 metres (659 ft). Its height above the rock bed is 14 metres (46 ft). There is an old electricity generation station and electricity was generated here for the first time in 1887.</p>
<p>One interesting feature of this place is the monuments from the Chalukya era that are found on either bank of the rocky gorge. Another attraction of this place is the very old river-front temple dedicated to Lord Mahalingeshwara, built in the Later Chalukyan style of architecture.</p>
<p><strong>The Godachinmalki Falls</strong> is a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waterfall" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waterfall&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1584400338663000&amp;usg=AFQjCNEE63MLWpAO0Ug1leB8DBhAHL-eHw">waterfall</a> located on Markandeya river in <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belgaum" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belgaum&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1584400338663000&amp;usg=AFQjCNGEOX84iiPEMJ6ZmaFTnBZ2iOFNbQ">Belgaum</a> district, Gokak Taluk, <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karnataka" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karnataka&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1584400338663000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHA7VYeRXB4IHWKn_pIp_9bDswRYA">Karnataka</a>, <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/India" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/India&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1584400338663000&amp;usg=AFQjCNEfFdaIipLm0rg0Sj0aLejHJFARDA">India</a>. It is 15 kilometers away from <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gokak" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gokak&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1584400338663000&amp;usg=AFQjCNH1kY0TOhsxUIAjiuDiaBeFaTepnw">Gokak</a> and 40 kilometers from Belgaum. It is located in a deep green valley. Godachinmalki falls, also known as Markandeya falls, is located in a rugged <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valley" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valley&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1584400338663000&amp;usg=AFQjCNEkplMz6972uh0vHEQVQPtOqllsqw">valley</a>. There are actually two falls formed here. The Markandeya river takes a first fall from a height of about 25 metres and flows into a rocky valley. After a short distance from the rocky valley, it takes the second fall from a height of about 20 metres. Later Markandeya river joins Ghataprabha river near Gokak. Within a 6 km radius there are two dams; one built across Ghataprabha river (Hidkal dam) and another one (Shirur Dam) across Markandeya river.</p>
