Brief Introduction about Kalsubai : -

Height: ~ 5400 feet
Grade:  Medium
Time: ~ Maximum 3 hrs from Bari
Location: Igatpuri

Kalsubai is the highest peak of the Sahyadris, the Everest of Maharashtra. At the summit is a small temple of Kalsubai. This being the highest peak, it commands a beautiful view.The vastly spread out backwaters of Bhandardara attracts ones attention from the top. To the north of the mountain range forts such as Ramsej, Harihargad, Brahmagiri, Anjaneri, Ghargad, Bahula, Tringalwadi, Kavnai can be seen. To the east one can spot Aundha, Vishramgad, Bitangad, to the west Alang, Madangad, Kulang, Ratangad (south west) and to the south Pabhargad, Ghanchakkar, Harishchandragad can be seen.
Since Kalsubai is extremely famous, enough effort has been made to make this trek easy. There are steel railings, chains and ladders at places where it is difficult to climb. There is a symbolic temple at the top.

History:
Kailasgad, is one of the less explored forts of Sahyadri. The purpose of the fort is basically to keep the eyes on the surrounding of Tamhini ghat region. Since there is no known evidences of happening in history about the fort available, very rarely its visited by the trekkers.Fort is Surrounded by backwaters of Mulashi Dam, which makes it a pleasant and mesmerized trek.

Brief Introduction about Event:

Date :21st and 22nd November 2015 (Leaving on Friday night) 

Naneghat is a mountain located in the Western Ghats range near Junnar. Nanacha Angtha is the highest point at Naneghat which gives awesome view. Height is 350 ft from the cave of naneghat and is famous for Rappelling.
Every measures will be taken to ensure your safety during the activity. Demo secession will be conducted prior to activity.

Rappelling (English Name) also known as abseiling (German Name) is a method of a quick and safe descend after a climb. It’s an act of descending a mountain face by sliding down a rope, which is attached to a harness which is fastened to an overhead projection, with sufficient friction provided to control the speed of descent.

Jivdhan fort : The fort stands at an important position to guard Naneghat. From here any help to Naneghat could reach in less time. It was under Bahmani’s control and after that it went to Nizamshah. In 1636, Nizamshahi was on verge of extinction. Shahajiraje rescued Murtiza, the last Nizam, from Jivdhan and took him to the fort Pemgiri. In 1818, the British captured all the forts and destroyed them. Jivdhan too became a victim and the main entrance was destroyed. Even today the marks of those cannot go unnoticed as we climb the fort.

Brief Introduction about Malshej Ghat:-

Malshej Ghat (माळशेज घाट) is a mountain pass in the Western Ghats range in the Pune district of Maharashtra, India. The site is nestled in the lofty rugged hills of the Western Ghats.A nice view of valleys is one of the major attraction here. The view from behind the MTDC resort is a must-see. It is also famous for dark woods and the animals inside. These animals includes tigers, leopards, rabbits and peacocks etc. But truly a famous place near Malshej Ghat is Khireshwar which is 2/3 km from rest house. Through Khireshwar village, one can visit the famous Harishchandragad,kokankada a paradise of trekkers. A beautiful Pimplejoga dam also. One of the beauties here are many waterfalls in the hilly regions. Various waterfalls from small up to the huge ones are really worth to see and many are right next to the highway in the mansoon.

The birthplace of legendary Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, The Shivneri Fort is not very far (approximately 40 km) from Malshej Ghat which is in Junnar region.

Brief Introduction about Shivneri Fort (शिवनेरी किल्ला): -

Shivneri Fort (शिवनेरी किल्ला) is a 17th-century military fortification located near Junnar. It is the birthplace of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of Maratha Empire.

Shahaji, Chatrapati Shivaji’s father, was a general in the army of the Adil Shah, Sultan of Bijapur. He was concerned for the safety of his wife Jijabai during her pregnancy as there was constant warfare going on. He therefore moved his family to Shivneri fort. Shivneri is a highly defensible location, with steep rocks on four sides and a strongly built citadel.

Chhatrapati Shivaji was born at the fort on 19 February 1630, and spent his childhood there.he got his name SHIVBA here. Inside the fort is a small temple dedicated to the goddess Shivai Devi, after whom Shivaji was named.

The highest point of the fort is at a height of 3500 feet above the sea level. The Junnar taluka lies at the foot of this fort. One more thing about Junnar taluka is that it has the highest density of leopard population in the country.

Some of the attraction places in and around Shivneri Fort are given below:

a. Badami Talao: This is a small lake at the centre of Shivneri Fort

b. Goddess Shivai Temple: There is a small temple of goddess Shivai inside the fort. Shivaji was in fact named after this goddess.

c. Lenyadri Caves: We can see the Lenyadri caves just two kilometerss away from Shivneri fort. The history says that Parvathi wanted have Vinayak as her son and performed penance at this caves for nearly 12 years.

d. Shiv Janmasthan: This is the birth place of Shivaji. It is considered by local people as religious place and also called locally as Shiv mandir.

3. We would check for the license and papers at the start of the ride for every biker, and if any paper is not found in place, the members would not be allowed to ride with us. Note: As there is now regular checking happens near Khandala Exit.

4. Over-speeding will not be tolerated as usual, because mishaps cost yours as well as whole group’s time.

KINDLY NOTE THAT ALL THE ABOVE ‘ON THE FACE’ POINTS ARE DRAFTED JUST TO REACH OUR DESTINATION ON TIME. HENCE, TOTAL CO-OPERATION WOULD BE REQUIRED.
