Ausa Fort :: The fort featured prominently in the conflicts between the Deccan Sultanates in the post Bahamani period. In later days it was captured by Malik Ambar in 1014 Hijri and was renamed by him as Ambarapur which was later changed to Amrapur.

Almost square in shape, the fort has a moat or khandak (ditch) around, nearly 36.58 meters (120 ft) in width, now nearly dry. Fort has a glance, a retaining wall, a covered way, a double rampart fortified further with massive bastions, which are mostly semi-circular mounted with huge cannon. There is the usual Pani Mahal in a ruined condition, quite a few large wells now unused, a mosque and a dargah of one Sayyad Sadat.

Outside the fort is an old Jama mosque and in the prayer niche are two inscriptions in Persian, which record the names of Emperor Aurangzeb and Sohrab Khan, the builder of the mosque. It was built in 1680.

Udgir Fort: Built in prebahamani age ,dating from the 12 th century c.e., it is also famous for the historic battle in which marathas led by sadashivrao bhau, defeated nizam and after which the treaty of udgir was signed. There are many old military observation ponys and rest houses scattered over the surrounding hills ,all built from unusual white clayshow ever, all have long sence followen in ruin. Udgir fort may also have a deep underground tunnel connecting it with bhalki and bider forts. The fort is bounded by a 40 feets deep trench ,and contents several palaces, as well as the samadhi of udgir maharaj, which is 60 feet under the normal ground level. It was named after hindu santh udgiri rishi. it has some rare inscriptions written in arabic and persian which testify to the knowledge and culture by the local muslim rurals over the centuries.

Sanchi

Dear All

We @ Shikhar vedh has arranged an Tour to Bhimbetka Rock Shelters – Sanchi Stupa Bhopal on 7-8 December 2019

About the places -Bhimbetka :: A UNESCO World Heritage Site :An archaeological treasure, Bhimbetka has around 243 rock shelters. The paintings found in the rock shelters here have a striking resemblance to the ones discovered in Kakadu National Park in Australia; to the cave paintings of Bushmen in Kalahari Desert and Upper Palaeolithic Lascaux cave paintings in France.A walk through these ancient naturally carved rocks surrounded by dense forests of Bhimbetka will bring alive child-like wonder in you.
————————————————————Sanchi Stupa : The town of Sanchi is synonymous with Buddhist Stupas – hemispherical structures typically containing relics of the Buddha or his followers. The Stupas of Sanchi were constructed on the orders of Emperor Ashoka to preserve and spread the Buddhist philosophy. Sanchi has been protecting these beautiful and sacred architectural wonders, just the way these wonders have been safeguarding ancient history and art of the Mauryan period. The numerous stupas, temples, monasteries and an Ashokan pillar have been the focus of interest and awe for global audiences as well. In fact, UNESCO has given the status of ‘World Heritage Site’ to the Mahastupa.
