Brief Information about the Place:

Pleasant climate and scenic beauty of Jawhar , located in the Sahayadri mountain range, Jawhar also boasts of strong cultural ethos and a history that dates back to the 14 th century. Founded in 1306, Jawhar was ruled by the Munke dynasty and served as camping point for Maratha king Shivaji and his army en route Surat. Jawhar was part of the Mumbai Presidency under the British. Jawhar is known for their own tribal culture. Warli/varli painting as well as various traditional cultures like Bohada(fair) in which you can see Tribal culture which have been followed from ancient time. For Tribal culture study Jawhar is golden area for students.

Jai Vilas Palace:

The Jai Vilas palace or the Raj Bari was built by Raje Mr.Yashwant Rao Mukane in near by 1940. The name Jai Vilas is derived from the one of the raje of Jawhar Mr. Jaiba Maharaj Mukane. The stone used for this is syenite which was brought from sakhara which is 12km away from its location. It is said that when the work of palace was completed, the quarry from which the stone was extracted was broken down and now the Geological Department of Government of India has taken up to locate the quarry .The palace is a master piece of pink stone.There is a beautiful garden with a dense forest like foliage, having trees of cashewnut everywhere.The palace is a popular location for film shoots. The palace has close to 50 rooms; the terrace affords a great view of Jawhar.

Hanuman Point: There is an old temple of Maruti; This temple is known as Katya Maruti Mandir because it is surrounded by dark forest of cactus and has valleys on three sides. The valley is nearly 500 feet deep. During renovation a view point was created near the temple, which is known as Hanuman Point. During the day time, one can see the historical fort of Mahuli from this point, The valley is also known as Devkobacha Kada.

Dabhosa Waterfall: The height of waterfall is about 300 feet. he waterfalls are surround by straight mountains of height not less than 600 feet on both sides and are covered with Medicinal plants. Dabhosa waterfall is one of the highest waterfalls in Maharashtra. To top it all this is one of the very few waterfalls which is perennial. The crater shaped bowl into which the waterfall cascades and the lake at the bottom of the waterfall is truly a spectacular site.

Khad Khad Dam:This is one of the major dams near Jawhar city with beautiful scenic locations. The place provides a peaceful natural ambience to soothe a tired mind & body, besides this excess water of dam flows through the huge rocks (just ahead the dam) which can be seen in a form of a waterfall.

Shirpamal: An ancient structure dating back to 3rd century, the Shirpamal is a popular historic cite belonging to the great emperor of Maratha Kingdom, Chhatrapati Shivaji. Situated at the top of a highest hill, it purpose was to keep an eye on the enemies during the war. However, today it serves as one of a prime tourist attraction while offering a bird’s eye view of the whole city.

First Visit Jai Vilas Palace

then Hanuman Point

Lunch

Move to Dabhosa Waterfall

Visit Shirpamal, Khadkhad Dam

Evening Tea 

Return journey starts around 6 pm

Back home by 10.00 p.m (Dats Tentative)
