We @ शिखर वेध have planned a less trodden path / unexplored one … a day trek to Gherasurgad fort near Kolad on Sunday 22nd July 2012 … so finally here one & near one …

Details r as follows

Brief Introduction about Gherasurgad: –

Height: ~ 1600 feet
Grade:  Medium
Time: ~ Maximum 2 hrs from Khamb, Base Village
Location: Raigad District

Explore the little known but extremely interesting and beautiful Gherasurgad. The Fort has inscription, water tanks, ancient temples and buildings and falls in the western ghats region of India and is historically associated with Chatrapati Shivaji. It is also called Surgad. From the top of the fort you have the most astounding view of the river Kundalika river snaking below and the peaks of the western ghats in the distance.

The train scheduled @ 06:20 hrs from Diva that will drop us at Nagothane around 08:32 Hrs. This is Diva-Sawantwadi Passenjar (Konkan Railway) … No gurantee of having a seat in the train ..
Pls be sure abt the timing … Following is timing where train halts … u can catch wherever it is comfortable to u …

06:20 : – Diva    (Central Line)
07:05 : – Panvel (Harbour Line)
08:32 : – Nagothane

Just Check that if u miss the train … u miss the trek with us …

09:30 am: Pathre Wadi – Khamb by 6-Seater Rick

Breakfast Time

09.45 am Start trek to the top
11.45 am Reach fort top

11.45-14:00 pm Explore fort, Lunch, Rest and enjoy the view of the surrounding region

I guess 2 hrs for Fort Exploration, Lunch etc. is enough.

14.00 pm Descend

16:00 pm @ Base
Return Journey :  by ST bus till panvel
We will be in mumbai around 21:00 hrs ( thats – subjective)

The Estimated initial expenditure is about Rs. 350 / –

This includes Nagothane 2 Khamb fare for Rick + Guide Contri +  Bus fare till panvel + Evening Snacks/Tea @ Nana Patekar (Duplicate) Tapri (Pls check out  below snap link)

Pls do carry Lunch for the day
A Water Bottle (~2.5 Ltrs)
Raincheater (Optional)
Camera, Cell Phone, Binoculars (Optional)
Pls avoid wearing Gold and other ornaments
Some ready to eat food. Plum cakes, Biscuits etc.
Good trekking shoes,
Personal basic medical kit (Containing an antiseptic, few bandages, personal medications if any, Antibiotics for stomach infection)
